Do Estheticians Trim Hair Before Waxing?

One of the most common questions we hear is, “Will you trim my hair before waxing?”
The answer is: usually, no.
For the best waxing results, we actually recommend not trimming before your appointment. Hair should be about ¼ inch long (around 3 to 5 weeks of growth after shaving) so the wax can grip it properly. If the hair is too short, the wax may not remove everything, leaving behind stubble or patchy results.
If your hair is unusually long, your esthetician may trim it slightly for comfort before waxing. This helps make the service more comfortable without affecting the results.
How to Prepare for Your Wax
Stop shaving at least 3 weeks before your appointment.
Don’t trim the hair yourself.
Exfoliate 2–3 times a week leading up to your appointment.
Arrive with clean skin and avoid heavy lotions.
The longer your hair is, the better your first wax usually goes.
