What Should I Avoid After a Brazilian Wax? Windham, NH

You just got a fresh Brazilian wax—now what?

What you do during the first 24–48 hours after a Brazilian wax can make a big difference in how your skin feels and looks. Freshly waxed skin can be more sensitive, so this is NOT the time to introduce extra heat, sweat, friction or irritation.

At The Skin & Waxing Studio in Windham, NH, we want your Brazilian wax results to stay smooth for as long as possible.

1. Avoid Sex After a Brazilian Wax

We recommend avoiding sexual activity for about 24 hours after your Brazilian wax.

Freshly waxed skin can be more sensitive, and friction, sweat and bacteria can increase irritation.

Give her a day off. 😂

2. Skip the Gym

Try to avoid heavy workouts and excessive sweating for approximately 24 hours after waxing.

Sweat + friction + freshly waxed skin is not our favorite combination.

If you absolutely have to work out, keep it light and wear loose, breathable clothing.

3. Avoid Hot Showers, Hot Tubs and Saunas

For the first 24 hours, skip anything that creates a lot of heat.

That includes:

  • Hot showers

  • Hot tubs

  • Saunas and steam rooms

  • Heated workout classes

A lukewarm shower is the better choice while your skin settles down.

4. Don’t Exfoliate Right Away

Yes, exfoliating is important for preventing ingrown hairs....but not immediately after your Brazilian wax.

Your skin just went through exfoliation during the waxing process itself.

Give it time to calm down before reaching for your exfoliating glove.

5. Avoid Tight Clothing

Fresh Brazilian wax + tight leggings = unnecessary friction.

Choose loose, breathable clothing when possible, especially immediately after your appointment.

Your freshly waxed skin will thank you.

6. Don’t Pick at Your Skin

A little redness or small bumps immediately after waxing can be completely normal.

Do not pick, scratch or squeeze them.

Your skin needs time to settle.

If something doesn’t look or feel right after your wax, contact your wax specialist instead of attacking it in the bathroom mirror.

7. Don’t Shave Between Brazilian Waxes

You made it this far. PUT. THE. RAZOR. DOWN.

Shaving between Brazilian wax appointments interrupts the waxing process and puts your hairs back on different growth schedules.

Consistent waxing every 4–6 weeks can help you get smoother, more consistent results over time.

When Can I Start Exfoliating Again?

Once your skin has calmed down, regular gentle exfoliation becomes one of the most important parts of your Brazilian wax aftercare routine.

We generally recommend exfoliating 2–3 times per week with an exfoliating glove or an ingrown hair serum, check with your esthetician which works best for your skintype.

This helps remove dead skin and makes it easier for new hairs to grow through instead of becoming trapped underneath the skin.

Is Redness Normal After a Brazilian Wax?

Yes!

Temporary redness after a Brazilian wax is common, especially if you’re new to waxing or have sensitive skin.

Waxing removes hair directly from the follicle, so your skin may temporarily look pink, red or slightly bumpy afterward.

It should gradually calm down.

Keep Your Brazilian Wax Smooth Longer

The best Brazilian wax results don’t stop when you leave the treatment room.

Proper aftercare, regular exfoliation and staying consistent with your waxing schedule can help keep your skin looking and feeling its best between appointments.

And remember:

No shaving between waxes. We WILL know. 😂
